My name is Sachiko Koyama. My friends call me Sachi. I received my Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Tokyo in Japan in 1995. I have been working in the United States since 2003. I am a member of the Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS), the European Chemoreception Research Organization (ECRO), and the Japanese Association for the Study of Taste and Smell (JASTS).

My general field of interest is chemical signaling. I have largely specialized in studying the influences of pheromones and plant-based bioactive chemical compounds on behaviors and physiological conditions such as neurogenesis/stem cell proliferation and cutaneous wound healing in mice. I have a strong interest on the utilization of phytochemicals in suppressing inflammation, improving regeneration, and facilitating recovery from disease.

Being in academia for decades, I have wrote papers and grant applications and also reviewed others' papers as a reviewer as well. I have taught students how to prepare and make presentations.
